Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Bottle gourd /lauki halwa:
- 1/2 kg Around bottle gourd (lauki/kaddu)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tin sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons desiccated coconut powder
- 4-5 cardamoms
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon green food color (foster Clark’s)
- 10-15 almonds roughly sliced for garnishing
- 1/2 cup mawa (homemade)
Instructions to make to make Bottle gourd /lauki halwa
- Firstly wash,Peel and grate lauki leaving the center part seeds etc. Add in a chilled water bowl it prevents from turning black. Set aside until used. Further dry roast the cardamom for few seconds then blend it with a tablespoon of sugar to fine powder. Let’s start preparing
- Take a wok add ghee to it and pop in the grated lauki removing the excess water. Sauté until raw smell disappears next add milk and cook for 5 minutes covered until lauki turns tender then add sweetened condensed milk mix well cook on low flame burner.
- Further add green food color,cardamoms powder,desiccated coconut powder some Khoya and cook until ghee separates from sides off the flame.
- Pop it in a container and garnish with chopped almonds and Khoya too while serving. Enjoy it warm or cool it’s tempting & aromatic. Can be stored in refrigerator for about a week. Our deliciously awesome lauki halwa is ready to relish..!
